The online travel platform Tripadvisor has unveiled its Travelers' Choice Awards “Best of the Best" for this year, and while Florida's inclusion is expected, St. Pete’s acclaim is particularly noteworthy.

Coming in at number two on Tripadvisor’s "Best of the Best Destinations" list in the U.S. for 2024, St. Pete is celebrated for its perpetual sunshine, sparkling shorelines and abundance of outdoor pursuits.

“The sun almost always shines on St. Petersburg, the ‘Sunshine City’ that enjoys an average of 361 days of clear skies per year. Combine that with 244 miles of glimmering coastline along Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and the intra-coastal waterways and you have one hot beach destination. Catch the sun, surf and sand at Ft. De Soto Park, or take a hike up the 37-mile Pinellas Trail. Enjoy a Devil Rays game during baseball season or escape to the shady oasis of the Sunken Gardens,” according to Tripadvisor.

Tripadvisor's methodology for determining its best destination list is rooted in the collective voice of its global community. The site’s award-winning locales are those that have amassed a significant number of exceptional reviews and opinions across their hotels, eateries and attractions over one year.

Tripadvisor’s Top 5 Travelers' Choice “Best of the Best” Destinations included:

  • #1 Napa, California: Wine Country's Crown Jewel

  • #2 St. Petersburg, Florida: Sunshine City Splendor

  • #3 Marathon, Florida Keys: Island Paradise Awaits

  • #4 Brooklyn, New York: Urban Culture Meets Classic Charm

  • #5 Provincetown, Massachusetts: Coastal Retreat with Artistic Flair
