ZooTampa's “Christmas in the Wild” returns this year with new light displays and close encounters with the zoo’s diverse wildlife. The event begins on Nov. 24 and continues for 19 select nights until Dec. 30.

According to a news release, lighted animal sculptures will line the Ituri Pass walk-through, which will include interactive Christmas wreaths and rock 'n' roll music. Additionally, 32 snow-adorned trees and hanging snowflakes will surround guests as they walk through the park. Also new this year, guests can experience the zoo’s Holiday Signature wildlife interactions, such as the African Penguin and Indian Rhino encounters.

The Gingerbread Jubilee will return this year in the Gingerbread Village, featuring “Mayor Molasses” and the zoo’s villagers.

The Forest of Fantasy offers two light shows at the zoo, featuring twinkling lights and holiday music at sunset. Additionally, the Africa Tunnel will be transformed into a winter wonderland known as the “Ice Cavern,” while Roaring Springs' Tacky Christmas features various holiday decorations.

In addition to light displays and animal encounters, the zoo, which is home to more than 1,300 animals, aims to educate visitors about wildlife conservation.

The zool will also hold its annual Giving Tree event, which is a holiday fundraising initiative to support animal enrichment, veterinary care and daily nutrition needs for the zoo’s animals, including the zoo’s sick, injured and orphaned manatees. The funds go to providing the animals with stimulating toys, activities and environments to enhance their well-being.
